I used to dread going to the dentist before I found Dr. Curl eight years ago, but not any more! Your entire experience is great from setting up an appointment, what ever your procedure is, and walking out the door. Lastly and more importantly, they work VERY hard with your insurance company to get them to pay their share of the expense! So if you are looking for a dentist, Dr. Curl and his staff will be the last dentist you ever shop for! Marcy M.
Could you benefit from sedation?
An Especially Good Option for Surgical Treatment
Deep sedation is especially helpful for patients who are undergoing surgical procedures such as dental implant placement, tooth extraction, or a full mouth reconstruction.
Because these procedures typically take longer and are more invasive than others, oral conscious or IV sedation is highly recommended because it allows Dr. Curl to perform more dental work in a shorter time period.
Can you safely undergo sedation?
Types of Sedation We Offer
Our goal is to make your procedure as painless as possible. During your consultation, we will review your options and answer any questions you may have about the treatment process.
Oral Conscious
Dr. Curl can prescribe oral medication for patients who are nervous about their procedure. For the best results, you will need to abide by our preparatory instructions before your treatment. During the procedure, you can expect to feel deeply relaxed. Many patients even fall asleep. However, you will still be able to respond to our instructions. Keep in mind that medication will inhibit your ability to drive. You should plan for a friend or loved one to drive you to and from your procedure.
IV Sedation
IV sedation is administered directly into the vein. This method takes effect more quickly than oral sedation and will be adjusted throughout the procedure for your comfort and safety. It is important to note that IV sedation requires fasting. As with oral sedation, you will need to schedule a ride to and from your procedure.
Local Anesthesia
If you are only concerned about the pain associated with your procedure, local anesthesia may be all you need. This solution is injected near the treatment site and acts as a nerve blocking agent. There is no preparation or fasting required, and most patients are able to return to their normal activities after receiving anesthesia.
Choosing a Dentist
When selecting a dentist to perform treatment, it is important to work with a highly qualified and well-respected practitioner. Dr. Curl is certified in sedation by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, meaning he has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education. With 40 years of experience practicing dentistry, you can trust Dr. Curl to deliver sedation safely and effectively.
As Dr. Curl is licensed to administer sedation,
we do offer the option to bring in an anesthesiologist to monitor you during treatment. We will develop a custom plan to provide the same high-quality sedation needs.
